Submission deadline

Submitting your manuscript

Please send one electronic copy of your manuscript via anonymous ftp to the ISU computer wet.physics.iastate.edu.Change directories into wet/incoming/wkshp4/, then create a new subdirectory there with a unique name (for instance, M.S. O'Brien might use the command "mkdir msobrien". Then cd to your new directory, and place your manuscript and any accompanying files there. Then send an email message to informing him the paper has been submitted. Alternatively, you can email the entire manuscript to Edmund, though he would prefer the ftp submission method.

The editors also request that you please submit one paper copy to at:

Copernicus Astronomical Center
ul. Bartycka 18
00-716 Warsaw, POLAND

The paper copy is crucial since in the past, whole manuscript pages were lost during electronic transfer to Vilnius.

Manuscript guidelines

Updated 19 Sept 1997

Edmund prefers that electronic submissions use the TeX format, since Baltic Astronomy does not generally accept LaTeX submissions, and for the 1995 proceedings he spent considerable time translating every paper into TeX. However, since many people are not familiar with TeX, Edmund has provided a LaTeX style file and example LaTeX manuscript for those who wish to submit their papers in LaTeX format.

People submitting TeX files can download the Baltic Astronomy macro file and an example TeX manuscipt by following the appropriate links below and then choosing the "save-as-text" download option using their web browser. Those wishing to submit LaTeX files can in addition download an example LaTeX manuscript and the LaTeX style file.

Baltic Astronomy macro file: baltic.tex (updated 19 Sep 1997)

Example TeX manuscript: template.tex

Example LaTeX manuscripts: exlatexb.tex, gmss2.tex (new 19 Sep 1997)

LaTeX style file: edm06bc.sty (new 19 Sep 1997)

The above files can also be retrieved via anonymous ftp to wet.physics.iastate.edu, from the directory wet/wkshp4/. Another file in that directory, README.txt, contains a copy of these instructions.

Finally, some people have asked if they could simply submit complete articles in PostScript format with figures and all. Edmund responds that it is okay to have the PostScript manuscripts as a guide, but he needs the raw LaTeX files for editing in any case, and all figures should also be submitted as separate, scalable PostScript files.
