(EC20058-5234 has 2 nearby companions 2 and 4 arcsec distant with V=15.7 and V=17.8. Neither emits significant flux in the B band. The total magnitude of the 3 stars is V=14.9.)

The southern target for the 1997 July WET run is the second brightest pulsating DB white dwarf, EC20058-5234. It was discovered in the Edinburgh-Cape survey and basic information appears in Koen et al., MNRAS, v277, 913. As you can see in the finding chart published in that paper, the star is a member of a close group of 3 stars (~couple arcsec separation). The V magnitude of the group is 14.9. The only possible observing mode is to include all 3 stars in the aperture.
