BPM 37093 News from HQ
- April 20, 1998: We will post the status of data acquisition and
weather at various sites at the observatories
page, i.e. "clouds," "BPM data," etc., as soon as we obtain this
information from every site each day.
- April 16, 1998:
- Antonio sent us lightcurves and a Fourier transform from
two nights of pre-WET run data he took last
month (March, 1998). Check it out!
- We have a new
ONGOING DISCUSSIONS
page, accessible from the main XCov 16 page as well as from
the BPM 37093 and Sanduleak 3 pages. This environment
is intended for general discussions about the XCov 16 campaign and
the science we're trying to accomplish. The discussion will be
broken up into topics; each user can add comments to any topic,
and even add topics at will; also, unlike the comments pages we
have set up for the plots, this environment is relatively private:
you need the WET password in order to join in. Anyway, it's a lot
like a newsgroup--we hope it's all self-evident when you go
to there. Try it out, and let us know if it's worth
the trouble!
- April 13, 1998: The WET control center has a new FAX
machine and number, which will allow us to send and receive faxes
at all hours (the old machine was only available during regular office hours).
The new control center fax number is 1-515-294-3073.
The old number (294-6027) will still work,
but if you use it please remember to mark your fax for Steve Kawaler
or Sean O'Brien, as that machine is used by the entire physics and astronomy
department.
- March 13, 1998:
The links to BPM light curves,
Fourier transforms,
the O-C diagram, and
pulse shapes now work--though currently
all they contain are template plots with no data. These
pages contain a new feature: you can leave comments
and view the comments of others for each plot,
via a simple WWW form interface. The primary
advantage we see in this method over traditional email
is that we can all quickly and simply access each other's
thoughts on the results, without having to log into
the control center computer's WET account and sift
through all that email. Of course, if you wish to
make more private or general comments, email to HQ is still
encouraged. We're just trying out this new system: please
let us know what you think so we can decide whether to
keep it for future WET runs.
